Stijn Paredis (Leuven, 1992) is a PhD researcher at KU Leuven since October 2021, under supervision of professors Dominique Bauer and Pieter Bergé. The project is titled Spatial Imageries in Music and Music Criticism. Shifting Aesthetic Paradigms, the Reception of Music, and the Built Environment in Fin-de-Siècle Belgium.
Stijn graduated magna cum laude at the Faculty of Arts of the same university as a musicologist with a thesis about the Flemish composer Lodewijk Mortelmans and the aesthetics of elegies in music, supervised by professor Camilla Bork. Before returning to KU Leuven, he worked for the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra where he was involved in dramaturgy and programming. He has been asked as a speaker for concert introductions and writer for program notes and booklets by several cultural institutions in Flanders.
